New Appointments at Avecia Biologics

Tees Valley, 5 August 2008 : Avecia Biologics has announced the following recent appointments:

Non Executive Director
Dr. Colman Casey has been appointed as Non-Executive Director of Avecia Biologics. Dr. Casey has many years’ experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, most recently as General Manager of Schering Plough’s Brinny facility in Ireland. He is currently a Director of the University College Cork Education/Training Partnership and he will retain these duties in alongside his new role at Avecia.
Steve Bagshaw, President Avecia Biologics said “We are delighted that Dr. Casey has agreed to join Avecia as non-executive director. His experience will be hugely beneficial as we continue our growth and take a number of projects through Process Validation into commercial manufacture.”

Head of Business Development, Europe
Koen Hellendoorn has been appointed Head of Business Development for Europe. Dr Hellendoorn joined Avecia in April 2005 as Business Development Manager covering Benelux, Germany and Israel. In his new role Dr Hellendoorn will be responsible for leading the European business development team and key account management. Prior to joining Avecia he was director of global technology alliances with Cambridge, UK-based Biovation.
