Effective 1st Feb 2010, MSD (operating in the US and Canada as Merck & Co,. Inc.) has completed its acquisition of Avecia Biologics Limited, a contract manufacturing organisation with specific expertise in microbial-derived biologics.

Under the terms of the agreement, MSD acquires Avecia Biologics Limited and all its assets, specifically the process development and scale-up, manufacturing, quality and business support operations of Avecia Biologics located in Billingham, North East England, UK. www.merck.com
